Master Sgt. (res.) Ran Poslushni

Ran Poslushni, a brave and dedicated security officer from Nahal Oz, tragically lost his life on October 7th, 2023, while valiantly defending the kibbutz. Upon hearing the news of Hamas terrorists infiltrating the village, Ran fearlessly grabbed his son's rifle, who was observing Shabbat, and rushed to confront the imminent threat.

Displaying remarkable courage and quick thinking, Ran managed to neutralize several terrorists, effectively thwarting their malicious intentions. However, amidst the chaos and confusion, tragedy struck when he was caught in the crossfire of IDF soldiers battling the terrorists. It was an unfortunate turn of events that ended the life of a true hero.

Recognizing his immense sacrifice and unwavering dedication to protecting his community, Ran's family petitioned for him to be officially recognized as having been killed in the line of battle. Their plea was met with approval from the government, acknowledging the extraordinary bravery Ran exhibited until his last breath.

Beyond his role as a security officer, Ran was also a devoted employee at the Ashdod Port for over 18 years. His strong work ethic and commitment to his responsibilities were evident to all who knew him. Ran's brother, Tom, expressed the profound grief that enveloped the family, saying, "My heart has shattered into a million pieces. I love you, my dear older brother, with my whole heart. I will never stop missing you."

Ran leaves behind his loving wife, Sharona, and their four children.
