Sgt. Ron Sherman

Sgt. Ron Sherman, a brave and courageous young soldier, tragically lost his life on December 15th, 2023, in Gaza. At just 19 years old, Ron had already made a significant impact as a Coordinator Liaison Officer in the COGAT unit (מתפ״ש). His untimely demise came after being kidnapped by Hamas terrorists, along with two other soldiers, from their base on October 7th. The harrowing ordeal began when Ron was in contact with his family, saying those haunting words, "it's over."

For 70 long days, Ron's loved ones endured unimaginable anguish, desperately praying for his safe return. Their hopes were shattered when Ron's lifeless body was discovered amidst the chaos of war in Gaza. The loss of such a vibrant and joyful soul was felt deeply by all who knew him.

Ron had an infectious spirit, always radiating happiness and bringing joy to those around him. He was known for his love of travel and cherished moments spent with his family and friends. Despite his youthful age, Ron possessed a maturity beyond his years and had dreams of becoming a lawyer after completing his military service. His determination and unwavering commitment to justice left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.

To his family, Ron was more than just a son and a brother – he was their rock, their protector, and their best friend. His loving mother and father, along with his two younger siblings, now carry the heavy burden of grief, forever missing his presence in their lives.

As we remember Sgt. Ron Sherman, let us honor his memory and the sacrifices he made for his country. His brave spirit will forever be an inspiration, reminding us to cherish every moment and to value the bonds we share with our loved ones. May his soul find eternal peace.
