Staff Sergeant Daniel Rashed

Born and raised in the Druzi village of Shefa'amr, near Haifa, Daniel was the oldest of four siblings. From a young age, he exhibited a deep sense of patriotism and a desire to serve his country. His love for Maccabi Haifa, the local football team, was shared with his father, and they would often attend games together whenever Daniel had a weekend off from the army. It was during these moments that they would bond over their shared passion for the sport and create cherished memories.

Daniel's journey as a soldier began when he enlisted in the Golani Brigade's 13th Battalion. From the moment he stepped foot in the army, it was clear that he possessed an unwavering motivation and an unyielding dedication to his duties. Throughout his combat training, he excelled, earning the respect and admiration of his superiors and peers alike.

However, it was during the commander's course that Daniel's true character shone through. Despite sustaining an injury that offered him the opportunity to leave combat, he refused to abandon his comrades and insisted on remaining in the unit. His selflessness and loyalty were unparalleled, and it was in the war room of the unit that he continued to serve, making invaluable contributions to the safety and success of his fellow soldiers.

Described by his father, Muadh, as a boy who was quiet, shy, and deeply loved, Daniel had dreams beyond his military service. He aspired to join the prestigious Golani Brigade and also harbored a desire to become a nurse. His compassionate nature and empathetic spirit made him a natural caregiver, always looking out for the well-being of others.

To his close friend Salach, Daniel was a truly exceptional person. He possessed a heart that was overflowing with kindness and acceptance. Regardless of someone's gender, religion, or race, Daniel saw them first and foremost as a fellow human being. This inclusive mindset was a testament to his character and the impact he had on those fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Salach's words, "We lost an angel," capture the profound loss felt by all who knew Daniel.

In the wake of this devastating tragedy, Daniel's family is left to navigate a world without their beloved son and brother. His parents, Muadh and Sohir, along with his three younger siblings, Ana'as, Andrei, and Guri, are left to carry on his memory and honor his legacy. They are surrounded by a community that mourns alongside them, forever grateful for the sacrifice Daniel made in the defense of his country.

Daniel Rashed will be remembered as a hero, a courageous soldier who dedicated his life to protecting others. His unwavering commitment to his duties, his genuine kindness, and his selfless nature serve as an inspiration to us all. Though his time on this earth was tragically cut short, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, Staff Sergeant Daniel Rashed. Your memory will forever be cherished.
