Warrant officer (res.) Amit Wachs

Amit volunteered as head of the yishuv’s security unit. When the attack began, he told his wife and three children to stay in their shelter and ran outside to help his neighbors. Both were killed by the terrorists on October 7th. Amit was hit by bullet fire in the community playground.

Amit, “Waxi,” was someone who instilled a sense of confidence and security whenever one was in his presence. He and his brother Igal both loved to surf. He was widely recognized and appreciated. He always volunteered with a big smile, humility, and generosity.

A friend eulogized him as someone “who instilled confidence and a feeling that everything was going to be alright. Hundreds of people knew him, he volunteered in every place, always with a big smile, always modestly, always with a huge heart.”

Amit is survived by his two younger brothers, his wife, and three children.
